Tour de Banyuwangi Ijen racers who will compete, Monday (22/7/2024)

TRIBUNJATIM.COM, BANYUWANGI – International Tour de Banyuwangi Ijen (ITdBI) officially started, Monday (22/7/2024).

In the first stage the racers covered the route as far as possible 136,2 kilometer, by starting at SMKN 2 Tegalsari and finish at the Banyuwangi Regency Government office. Stage One is a proving ground for sprinters.

Vocational High School 2 Tegalsari is a vocational school located in the Islamic boarding school area. This location was deliberately chosen as the start of the first stage to introduce the Islamic boarding school tradition to hundreds of racers from various countries.

“This is an effort to campaign for the values ​​of tolerance. The pesantren tradition is an icon of indigenous education in the archipelago that has a long history of instilling peaceful Islamic values. This is what we want to convey to racers and the wider audience,” said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani, Monday (22/7/2024).

Ipuk said during the sign-on session at the start location, The riders will also be introduced to the sarong culture in Indonesia.

"We use Tour de Ijen to introduce the traditions and cultures of the archipelago, especially Banyuwangi. The hope is that this can give a different impression that they don't find when participating in similar competitions in other countries,"hope, Uncle.

Meanwhile, TdBI Chairman Guntur Priambodo explained, Stage one will be a proving ground for sprinters because it is dominated by flat tracks.

“Stage one will be dominated by flat tracks, There are three sprint points that sprinters can use to hunt for points,said Gunther.

The three sprint points are in KM 42,4 Circumstances, KM 66,8 Srono District Head Office, and KM 97,2 Karangsari.

“In stage one, the winner will most likely be a sprinter racer. But all racers still have the same opportunities,said Gunther.
